I just made a Shea Butter Mix to use on my skin and hair. I used a good amount of Shea butter, 2 tea spoons of EVOO, 2 teaspoons of Avocado oil, one scoop of coconut oil, and a couple drops of Tea tree oil(preservative). Can I use this for twists or as a leave in, or do you think this will need to be washed out?

raw shea butter alone is. My daughter has eczema and it works for her.

My shea butter is REALLY yellow but all pure. It’s even still got some dirt or on it. I think yellow is the purest. If your shea butter is grainy, that’s when you need to worry. Shea butter should be smooth in texture, blocky looking but smooth texture. And it should smell earthy. . .almost like clay or something.

Very true Sistar357, palm oil is an excellent moisturizer for the hair and body.

  23. sistar357 says:

Yellow shea butter varies in color by how long it’s cooked. If palm oil is added to shea it will only enhance because palm oil is good for you too

  24. badjujuwan says:

Make sure you don’t get that really yellow shea butter – I heard it’s mixed with palm oil. You can get shea butter from butters-n-bars dotcom or shop dot agbangakarite dotcom.
butters-n-bars has a lot of oils like avocado, jojoba, coconut, etc. You can also get a lot of oils from whole foods – i got grapeseed oil, castor oil, etc from them.
