for example, Water is needed to carry nutrients (amino acids, glucose, vitamins minerals etc…) to your muscles and organs all over your body, if you shut these down for a longer period, such as over a night, you’re gonna put your body into a catabolic state (muscle degenerating state)
So a good tip is, if you absolutely have to drink alot with your friends, drink alot of water with it, sure, you run the risk of being called a pussy, because you’re not gonna get as drunk if you drink water,

there are actually a number of things to take into consideration when consuming alcohol as a bodybuilder (apart from the things that scott already mentioned).

Alcohol is highly diuretic,(makes you urinate more) which means that it takes a lot of your body’s water to bind it in order for it to be urinated. And because it is a toxin, your body makes it a “top priority” to remove this toxin, so every other process in your body requiring water is put to halt and temporarily shut down

I am sure you weren’t trying to attempt all of the effects of alcohol in one short video, I find alcohol to also produce negative effects in bodybuilding even after only consuming 2-3 drinks in a night. Although you may not necessarily be hungover, just the fact that you are so dehydrated from your liver trying to expel a mere 36 oz. of beer from your system and are less motivated the next day can set you back lots.

  13. SMARTMARK1981 says:

This may seem like a silly question: Can you drink alcoholically and still find a way to lose weight? I go to the gym regularly, but I drink like a fish. Any tips?

  14. rickalex21 says:

I quit drinking 1 year ago now I can’t blame myself not pushing myself hard enough in the gym b/c of my drinking. :)

  22. vichiousfishes says:

I love the video but the question that I still haven’t had answered is what does moderate alcohol do to muscle directly? If your goal is to put on muscle will a beer after work prevent that or diminish the muscle already present?

I’ve really enjoyed your inputs and showing different types of work outs, I’m headed to a military college after going to a tech college so I’m trying to get in the best shape and I’m hitting them gym and swimming so I’m taking a lot of these tips to heart. I wrestled, played lax, and football in highschool so i have the go-to attitude to push hard. I’m trying to burn off the pudge from my waist….pointers?
