Before and After – 100 Pound Weight Loss in 1 Year – The Old School Way – Tony Glenn

On December 29, 2008 I thought I might be on my death bed. I weighed over 360 pounds and my heartbeat was irregular, my cholesterol and blood pressure was way out of whack and my joints felt like they could pop under my weight. I’ve spent 1 year just doing simple workouts and sensible eating. No pills, no surgery, no weight loss programs, books, weight watchers, jenny craig, strange exercise programs or anything. I just found a place where I could use an elliptical trainer, lift some weights and go for long walks. My point in posting this video is to let people know that they don’t have to spend much money or even time to lose weight. Just figure out what you like to do to get moving and stick with it. Hope someone finds a degree of encouragement in this.

@PurpleHoneyBear – You’re probably right. I didn’t realize how much even moderate weight lifting could help with keeping the skin tight. Since shooting this video I’ve lost about another 10-12 pounds, but look a lot tighter than I expected. Guess maybe I’ve put on some more muscle. I’ve gone down to size 36 pants (was 48 when I shot the fat vid. Increasing LBM is crucial it seems to looking nice after major weight loss.

Aren’t you afraid of bears on your walks??

    What an inspirational story!

I believe that the reason you didn’t get loose skin is because you didn’t sacrifice your lean body mass the way that others do. People assume that all that they’ve lost is fat, but really it’s a mixture of fat and muscle. It seems like you’ve KEPT most of your LBM and that is a great accomplishment!

    You look fantastic, dude!

@kendylicious – Sounds like you’re ready to make a positive change. I had to come to grips with the fact that I was going to leave the world unless I took charge and responsibility for my own eating and exercise habits. You can get back to yourself. That’s what it’s all about. You know that the heavier version of you is not the real you. Be strong and do the right things to come back to you. But don’t obsess about it – there’s danger in that happening too.

just like undraluvspl i was emotionally touched by your graciousness in sharing inspiration and experience. i have ballooned steadily over a period of 6 years to a person i no longer recognize. i had always been a little plump but emotional turmoil and stress from work finally overtook my will to care about the way i look. this evening i realized what i had been doing to myself…or NOT doing.
i had always waited for people to help me, when all i had to do was just start somewhere MYSELF.

Thanks – Your post means a lot. I’m doing good and losing more. You can do the same. Just please don’t get discouraged when the weight holds for a while or even goes up. Stick with your exercise and healthy eating, but don’t drive yourself crazy with it. Make it a natural thing. I’ll pray hard for you to succeed!

I know this might sound girlie but i was crying at the end of this video. I am 5’9 and 273 pounds. I was 220 until i had my baby then it just went up. I have decided to eat better and exercise. Your video has helped me realise I’m not alone. and it is hard but its worth it. Thank you for making this video.

Thanks Jonathan. Yes, life in the mountains is really helping me get back to myself. I’m under 250 pounds now. Still jamming, and have bought a Les Paul and new Peavey transtube amp. Life is good!
